Curing Your Acne and Skin Issues

By Andreia Alves

Nobody wants to have bad skin. Many people think that bad skin is a result of bad grooming when it is possible for a person's personal hygiene to perfect and have breakouts. The truth is that anybody can get hit with acne.

You need to keep your sheets, blankets and especially your pillowcases as clean as possible. For some people, keeping their blankets and sheets and pillowcases clean is not a priority. Try not to make this type of living a habit if you are prone to acne. Instead of slacking, wash and dry your bedding every two or three days. Keeping your linens clean is the best way to help you make sure that your face stays clean while you are sleeping. Make sure you always wear clean clothes and pajamas. Even though it seems extreme, even pulling yesterday's t-shirt down over your face could deposit enough debris in your pores to cause a breakout. Seek the help of a dermatologist. Some people simply have acne that cannot be cured with over the counter treatments. If you have tried everything that you can think of and nothing is working and you are still suffering from painful and extensive acne, it might be time to enlist the help of a doctor. You might need a prescription strength acne fighter and a dermatologist can give that to you. He or she might even discover that your acne is caused by something other than pores that have gotten clogged. You might be surprised to find out that genetics and other health conditions can come into play and cause acne issues. Your doctor will help you figure out how to clear up your skin safely and get it healthy again.

Do you get enough of your daily vitamins and minerals? For some people acne is a symptom of malnutrition. Acne can be a symptom that some part of your body's health is lacking in some way. The easiest way to deal with this is to take a multi-vitamin every day. The multi-vitamin won't take care of all of your nutritional needs but it can help you make up for some of the areas in which you are lacking. The reason you break out when you are malnutritioned is that your body starts producing more sebum which will clog your pores and make it easier for you to break out (and for bacteria to get in). Watching what you eat and taking your vitamins can keep this type of acne from happening. If you wear makeup regularly try switching brands to something lighter or simply wearing less of it each day. Buy makeup that has sunscreen in it instead of buying separate products and putting more clogging materials into your pores. Instead of choosing "regular" make up, buy make up that is made with minerals and vitamins that help your skin stay healthy. Choosing your makeup based on its price could be the worst thing you could do for your skin. Don't cake on your makeup. You want to make "less makeup" your goal. Don't worry--it is still possible to paint your face without adding pounds of creams and powders to it! It is incredibly important for the health of your skin that you go to bed with a clean (and makeup free) face. Acne breakouts almost always follow a night spent sleeping in your makeup.

Protect your skin against the sun. For people whose goal is to keep their pores free of clogs, spreading on thick sunscreen probably seems counterintuitive. Choosing an oil free sunscreen is the way to combat this.

Protecting your skin no longer means spreading heavy layers of cream all over it. Sunscreens are now lighter and many of them can be sprayed on instead of smoothed on. Even better, many facial moisturizers and cosmetic products already contain sunscreen so you don't have to worry about purchasing more products. An important fact to keep in mind is that tanning does not prevent you from getting zits, it only helps you get skin cancer. Keeping your hands to yourself and making sure to keep your face clean are two of the most basic and most reliable ways to cure an acne breakout. Once in a while the basic cleanser is not enough and you need to use a product that is a little bit harsher. No matter how old you might be, there are plenty of options available to help you keep your breakouts from coming back-isn't that great?
