Basic Methods of Fighting Acne

By Andreia Alves

Teenagers mostly see acne as another gross part of life. It is inconvenient and can make us embarrassed but we can take comfort in knowing that everyone else at school is dealing with the same thing. As adults we are supposed to have grown out of the frequent breakouts of our puberty years. It is partly because of this belief that so many adults are thrown for a loop when the random zit or pimple makes an appearance on their faces. Nothing makes us feel like kids again more than waking up to find that we're sporting some new spots and bumps. Adult acne is often very painful, which is another reason so many adults dread breaking out. Here are some acne fighting tips that you can use no matter how old you might be.

Are you getting all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need? Believe it or not some people react to malnutrition by breaking out. When you are not healthy, acne can be a symptom of that. The easiest way to deal with this is to take a multi-vitamin every day. Fixing your acne might not be as easy as taking your vitamins, but doing so could help you regain your health. The reason you break out when you are malnutritioned is that your body starts producing more sebum which will clog your pores and make it easier for you to break out (and for bacteria to get in). So make sure that you are eating the right foods and getting enough vitamins and nutrients.

Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be incredibly helpful to adults whose acne is severe. These cleansers are stronger and are usually created specifically to take care of hard to fight acne. Do not buy these cleansers unless your acne really is severe-using them on sporadic zits and pimples could strip your skin of nutrients and make it more vulnerable to breakouts than it has ever been. If, however, you suffer from bad acne, these cleansers might just be the thing you need to start breaking down the pimples and cleaning out your pores.

Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be incredibly helpful to adults whose acne is severe. These are stronger cleansers that are made for the express purpose of clearing up extensive acne. These cleansers are strong enough to damage faces who are not set up to accommodate them so, if your acne is not severe, you should choose something more gentle. If your acne really is hard to deal with, the harsher cleansers might be just what you need to get clear skin.

Calm down! For a lot of us, pimples and other forms of acne are a sure sign that we are too stressed out. Try to relax and give yourself some time to decompress each day. Have someone teach you some techniques for relaxation that you can use to keep your stress in check. If your daily life is filled with high levels of stress you should consider changing your lifestyle. Not only will cutting back be good for your spiritual health, it can help clear up your acne!

There is a wide variety of treatments available to people who suffer from acne. You might be able to use a simple mask made of natural ingredients while someone else might need something so strong they need a prescription from their doctor to use it. You might even be one of the lucky few who can cure acne breakouts with a change in diet and exercise. You might have to try a few different remedies before you find the one that works for you. Over time you will learn what works with your skin and what does not. Don't give up and soon you will have clean and clear skin!
