Curing Your Acne and Skin Issues

By Andreia Alves

Most people would agree that dealing with acne is a pain. Sporting a pimple makes most of us embarrassed. Lots of people hope fervently that they won't have to deal with acne once they have left their teenage years behind them. Unfortunately, not practicing proper skin care means that your teenage acne will never fully go away. You might not want to believe this but there are plenty of adults who still have the same acne problems they had as young teenagers. Here are some tips to help you keep most zits and breakouts from happening. This article will teach you how to combat acne and breakouts.

Wash your face gently. Don't wash too hard! Acne has an easier time settling into a face that has recently been scrubbed! Sure it will feel super clean for a while but you could accidentally do some serious harm to the very sensitive (and easily injured) skin on your face! Giving yourself scrubbing scars can be very embarrassing! Good face washing means finding the balance between firmness and being gentle. This sounds harder than it actually is. Just remember: if your face is bright red after you're done washing it, that is a bad sign. You want it to be flushed but not bright red! A little bit of a glow is healthy but resembling a stop sign is not. Make an appointment with a dermatologist. Some people simply have acne that cannot be cured with over the counter treatments. If you have tried all of the over counter products that you can find and are still battling heavy acne, you should make an appointment with a skin care professional. A professional will be able to prescribe extra strength acne fighters to help you. He or she might even discover that your acne is caused by something other than pores that have gotten clogged. Did you know that acne can be caused by genetics or other medical conditions? Your doctor will help you figure out how to clear up your skin safely and get it healthy again.

Try not to let your hands touch your face. The majority of the population doesn't realize just how much time they spend touching their faces every day. It is partly all of this touching that helps to clog our pores and cause breakouts. Think about it for a minute. Every time you touch something and then touch your face you are transporting some of that item into your facial pores. Touching your face is a great way to clog your pores with the oil and other things your hands have touched during the day. This is one of the best ways for flu germs to travel--a sick person uses an object and then puts it down, leaving some germs behind so that when you then use the same object the germs are transferred to your hands and then later to your face when you touch your face with your hands! This is why you should try not touch your face with your hands.

Washing your hands often during the day is a good idea if you are not able to stop yourself from touching your face. This means that you should wash your hands often.

You should keep your skin away from the sun. Lathering on a heavy layer of sunscreen might not seem like a good idea if you are concentrating on keeping your pores unclogged. Choosing an oil free sunscreen is the way to combat this.

You don't have to worry about heavy and gross sunscreen sheen anymore. Now sunscreen is light and can be sprayed on! You'll also be happy to learn that most of the lotion and makeup you own already contains sun fighting agents. Just remember: tanning does not keep pimples away. It just puts you at risk for skin cancer. Sometimes the best thing you can do to treat your acne is to go back to basics: keep your face clean and keep your hands away from breakouts. Other breakouts will require you to use something a little bit more powerful than a basic cleanser. No matter what your age might be, there is a product on the market that will help you cure your breakouts.
