Acne is one of the most common skin problem found in adolescents as well as adults. There are various causes leading to oily skin which serve to the development of acne on face and other parts of the body such as chest, back and shoulders too. However treatment taken for it may respond well but it mostly helps only in subsiding the acne which often leaves the red hyper pigmented marks behind.

It is very depressing to those who develop acne on face and then struggle with healing of the marks for long period of time. These marks are nothing but mere healing process of the skin, few people may have a quicker healing process and few may take some time to have a complete healed skin depending on their nature of body. Usually these red marks may last from 4 weeks to 12 weeks or in some cases it may take even longer like 6 months to 12 months.

Quick home remedies can be used to get rid of acne naturally as well as get rid of these red marks in a shorter duration, such as a mixture of baking soda in water with ratio of 5:1, which can be prepared into a paste and then must be applied on the affected area by gently rubbing it in circular motion and then it can be left till it dries, after which it can be rinsed off with normal water.

Toothpaste gel helps in reducing the swelling caused by the acne overnight, it must be applied over the pimple for a night and after which ice cube wrapped in a clean cloth must be dabbed over the affected area, this helps in reducing the visibility and making the blemish less noticeable caused by the pimple.

Also a mixture of lemon juice in rose water of equal quantity is to be applied on the marks and can be left over for 30 minutes. Then can rinse off with fresh water. The redness and marks caused by acne may reduce in about 15 days.

Fresh garlic can be rubbed at regular intervals which help in reducing the swelling and redness caused by the acne, also any eye drops can be applied by cotton swab over the affected area of the skin as it contains tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride which minimizes the redness.

Commercial products can also be used to minimize the redness immediately but for an effective remedy one must always opt for natural treatment as it helps in healing the skin on the long run. Natural extracts of licorice root, passion flower and sage help in reducing the red marks and heal the damaged tissue further by preventing acne and blemishes from developing.
