The Various Types of Acne that Affects People's Lives

Search engines like Google and Yahoo! are always flooded by searches and inquiries related to acne like prevention, acne cleanse remedies, and all sorts of information imaginable. This high numbers of search queries is a result of many individuals being affected by various kinds of acne.

Yes, we understand that there are so many kinds of treatments, remedies, and prevention products as well as regimens available to the public. But it is fairly important to know first some FYI's about it, including the different types that could affect an individual. Through this, it would help us understand its nature and be able to deal with it accordingly.

Acne comes in various forms that ranges from mild, moderate, to severe breakouts. Acne Vulgaris, Acne Rosacea, and other rare but serious types of acne can inflict any individual. Some can be easily treated, but some can cause disfiguring physical side effects as well as conditions that would require intensive medical treatments. Let's focus our discussion on Acne Vulgaris, being the common type among the list.

Mild Acne Vulgaris includes: Whiteheads which occurs when a skin pore or follicle is completely blocked. It is characterized by a small white spot that appears on the skin's surface, due to the trapped sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Blackheads, due to melanin oxidation, are characterized by brown or black spot. This happens when the skin pore or follicle is partially blocked, that lets some of the trapped dead skin cells, sebum, and bacteria to drain into the skin's surface. This is a slow process, thus taking it longer to clear as compared to whiteheads.

Moderate Acne Vulgaris includes: Papules are characterized by red, tender, and inflamed bumps devoid of head. Take note that it is not advisable to squeeze them and may just worsen scarring. Pustules are commonly termed as pimple or zit. It is an inflamed lesion characterized a red circle or spot with a center of yellowish or whitish color.

Severe Acne Vulgaris includes: Nodules which are large and painful acne spots, where hard bumps are situated beneath the surface of the skin. At times, it takes months for it to resolved, and if left untreated could lead to unsightly scarring and severe trauma to the skin. Last on the list looks similar to nodules except that these lesions are pus-filled and can be painful, called Cysts. Dermatologists may require a cortisone shot to prevent scarring on both cases.
