Hair Loss Problem Alternative: Hair Transplant

By Anne Weaver

One of the most prevailing problem men encounter is hair loss. The situation is most frequent in men, although there are women who are hit by baldness also. And because hair is really important for people, millions of dollars are doled out in various hair restoration cures yearly. More and more balding men are turning to hair transplant today to cure their problem.

There are a lot of men who see the lost of their hair as the lost of the self-esteem as well. For them, hair is equal to self-confidence. Regrettably, many baldness cases are inherited. As a last resort, after trying every restoration products in the market, a lot of men end up undergoing hair transplant procedure.

The operation requires moving hairs from a thick growth region to the balding parts. It is a minor operation performed by a qualified surgeon that requires the administering of local anesthesia. The surgery usually lasts for hours, around 4 to 8 hours at the most.

Hair transplant is not for everybody, though. It is only possible if you still have hair to move. The pattern of baldness in men normally begins at the front or top of the scalp. Some of the hairs from the back of the scalp will then be transferred to the front, the area where hair is absent.

But with the latest hair transplant procedure, the follicular unit extraction or FUE, even those without hair on the scalp can have the operation. This versatile operation can transplant hair to your head from other areas of the body, including beard, back, stomach, chest, neck, and arms and legs.

It is best to wait for a few more hours or even a full day before returning to regular activities. It has been said that you can resume driving at once after the operation, but it is better to be safe. You will be sedated during the process, so any lingering effect of the drug may still be present.

Be patient, though. Before you can see the complete effect, you need to wait until the transferred hair follicles start to grow first.

As true in all surgical procedures, patients undergoing hair transplant surgery should be perfectly healthy. While it is a relatively safe process, any perils of surgery also apply here. Confer with your doctor first before signing up for the process.
