The Essentials Of Liposuction

By Alcia Wong

Liposuction (also known as lipo) pertains to a surgical process that is done to remove stubborn and excessive fats on certain body areas. These stubborn fats-- typically found on the stomach, buttocks, hips, arms, breasts, and chin-- could not be easily removed by mere exercise and diet and therefore require surgical treatment.

Many people, particularly women, undergo the lipo procedure to enhance their physical appearance. However, it is crucial to remember that the lipo procedure is not necessarily an alternative for weight loss, even though the patient can expect to achieve a more shapely body after going through the procedure. It is necessary still for the patient to observe a healthy diet after the operation to be able to maintain the shapely body contour.

If you are planning to undergo liposuction, it is helpful that you take self-assessment first. Although the lipo procedure is generally safe, you should still be honest with your surgeon about your current medical conditions to prevent any complication.

In addition, make sure that undergoing lipo is your need, not just a whim. Although you know that you are likely to achieve a better body shape after the surgery, keep in mind that it is not a cure-all for a shapely body. You should also have the discipline to keep your body healthy and sexy, by means of observing regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Next, report to your doctor any related conditions that may weaken you during and after the operation. For instance, let your doctor know if you are suffering from a weak immune system, or from certain illnesses such as diabetes and coronary artery disease. Be honest as well regarding other conditions that may affect the outcome of the lipo surgery, including skin irritation, blood clot, and so on.

As with any surgery, liposuction requires one to have good health for faster recovery after the operation. Thus, you should maintain a healthy body while preparing for the lipo treatment. Remember that you should not just depend on your surgeon to see the best results from this surgical operation. You also need to do your part, before, during and after the operation.
