Proactiv Review Thats Upfront

By Aveline Clarke

Proactiv review - an upfront review.

Proactiv claims

Proactiv makes a plea to be The Answer for acne that will work for everybody regardless of your age, skin type or severity of your acne. Proactiv professes to be different as it impedes future breakouts before they even surface on your skin "while other products only concentrate on dumping existing acne.

How Proactiv works

According to Proactiv's website, "Proactiv is a variety of blemish control and skin care creams that blend powerful ingredients that work to prevent and control marks, as well as keep skin clear and beautiful".

They claim that their secret ingredient to clear and prevent spots is what's called 'the Proactiv system ' with their exclusive Benzoyl Peroxide microcrystal technology, which reports to penetrate fast to supply fast pimple-fighting action.

As the Proactiv Benzoyl Peroxide is more finely milled, it is able to penetrate deep into the pores. This can enable forehead marks to disappear and lose uncooperative breakouts - whether or not they are on the chin or jaw line. And if you are able to reach - it clears pimples from your neck, spine and shoulders too.

So How Does Proactiv work?

Simply, it unclogs your pores and eradicates bacteria deep within. Since Proactiv does nothing to the root cause of acne it can only manage your acne. They even admit this on their website by claiming that you have to keep using Proactiv even after your skin has cleared. A numerous number of user reviews also confirm this "acne tends to breakout if you cease utilizing Proactiv (and quite frequently even while you're still on it).

Is Proactiv only non permanent?

In actual fact any topical acne product is transient. As it only works as long as you are using it in your daily agenda. A topical solution cannot change the root cause of the problem: it is simply washing the after effects away.

So until Proactiv (and any other brand that is only topical) comes up with something that combats the internal hormonal fluctuations that cause the foundations of acne, it'll always be short lived. Thus the claim that Proactiv is 'the answer for acne ' is a little unbelievable.

Side-effects of Proactiv

Most people say that Proactiv irritates their skin. This is due to benzoyl peroxide, alcohol and other harsh chemicals in Proactiv. If you have delicate skin, you should expect some of the following symptoms:

Itchy skin

Skin goes red

Dry and flaky skin

But some users of Proactiv report that these symptoms spring from the Proactiv Revitalizing Toner. So if you're anxious or if this happens to you simply cut back the amount of toner you use as part of your routine.

Contradictory what most people assume the skin is kind of permeable and many substances pass thru it easily. Or how does one think that nicotine patches work? So I might really think carefully before applying dangerous and carcinogenic chemicals on my skin.

What users say about Proactiv

Like most acne treatments Proactiv gets a mixed feedback. It looks that about 60% of the reviews are on the positive side while the rest counsel you to keep away from Proactiv. There are folk who get no results or report that Proactiv basically makes their acne worse. Also some users say that Proactiv is amazing, it utterly clears their skin and has no side-effects.

Should I use Proactiv?

This is completely up to you. Like any product on the market, you want to guage the feedback with your own situation and then decide to try it. Remember it's not 'The Answer For Acne ' as it doesn't fix the cause. Notwithstanding what the celebrities say!

Proactiv isn't the sole option, despite the prevalent media attention. There are other smarter, safer products to use.

Rather than Proactiv, I would recommend you have a look at Zenmed. It is an interesting new acne treatment that only use scientifically proven, natural ingredients. Suggesting that with Zenmed you'll have a lot less side-effects than with Proactiv. There are several zenmed reviews that are worth reading and show how it's a different product.
